Dr. Hemant Pathare

Dr. Hemant Pathare practices as a Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgeon who specialises in high-risk CABG and Redo open heart operations, Heart and Lung transplant surgeries and ECMO,  He completed MBBS, Master’s degree in General Surgery (MS) and Master’s degree in Cardio-Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (MCh), from prestigious Seth G.S. Medical College, and King Edward VII Memorial Hospital at Mumbai. Dr. Pathare completed multiple fellowships in Australia in Surgical Treatment of Heart Failure. He is an Australian board-certified Heart and Lungs Transplant Surgeon. Dr.  Pathare has successfully proctored Heart Transplant Surgeries in the states of Gujrat & Telangana.

Dr. Hemant Pathare implants Ventricular Assist Devices (Heartmate II and III) in patients with intractable heart failure for temporary or permanent cardiac support. He is a specialist faculty at Cardio-Thoracic Surgical Conferences in India and contributes articles to scientific journals. He has performed Western India’s first successful bridging of a Bi-VAD onto a heart transplant for a critically ill patient who presented with heart, liver, and kidney failure. He has completed more than 5500 CABG and valve surgeries.

Dr. Pathare currently serves as the Director of the Dept of Heart-Lung Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support at the Jaslok Hospital Medical Research Center, Mumbai. Dr. Pathare has been involved in more than 140 Heart Transplants, 89Double Lung Transplants, 20 permanent LVADs, and countless ECMOs. During his transplant fellowship (2014-16), Dr. Pathare had the privilege of assisting Australian Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon Prof. Kumud Dhital, to perform the world’s first 2 successful Donation after Circulatory Death (DCD) Heart transplants using the Transmedics Organ Care System at the world-famous St. Vincents Hospital, Sydney.
